What is a Graduate Therapist?
At Calm Mind Therapy, we are proud to have a dedicated team of Graduate Therapists on staff. But what exactly is a Graduate Therapist, and how can working with one benefit you?
A Graduate Therapist is a student who is in the process of earning their Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Social Work. As part of their training, graduate students are required to complete a clinical internship in a real-world setting, just like Calm Mind, where they gain hands-on experience working with clients under supervision.
Though still in training, Graduate Therapists are highly committed and capable. They conduct genuine therapy sessions with clients and bring fresh knowledge from their graduate coursework, combined with a deep motivation to grow and support others. All therapy provided by Graduate Therapists is closely monitored to ensure the highest quality of care.
Supervision: What it Means for You
Graduate Therapists receive weekly one-on-one supervision with a fully Licensed Therapist at Calm Mind Therapy. In these sessions, they review cases, ask questions, and receive feedback to strengthen their skills and ensure client safety and progress. Additionally, they are supervised through their academic programs, meaning they are supported by two layers of professional guidance, both in the classroom and in clinical practice.
This extensive supervision helps ensure that you’re receiving thoughtful, ethical, and informed care, even though your therapist is still in training.
Accessible, Affordable Care
One of the unique benefits of working with a Graduate Therapist is the option to set your own fee. Because they are in training, we offer low-cost therapy sessions on a sliding scale. This helps make therapy more accessible for individuals and families who may not otherwise be able to afford consistent care.
